Punta del Fangar, Delta de l’Ebre
Delta de l’Ebre is an excellent place to watch the sunset. The favorite place for some is Punta del Fangar, a desert peninsula who goes into the Mediterranean Sea. The sand dunes change their aspect yearly, shaped by the winter winds.
Behind the shifting sands, towards the mountains, you can find a vast desertic plateau and behind it, a delta teeming with life. It is a place where you can enjoy a quiet day. You can sit anywhere you like on the shore of the sea, bathe or walk along the shallow waters. The beach is more than 5km long and you’ll find a solitary lighthouse along the way, a perfect location for photography.
The area is protected from April to August as the plateau is the nesting ground for various type of birds. Thus is best to not venture behind the marked areas to respect the natural habitat, keep the dunes intact so everyone can enjoy this unique place, humans and wildlife alike.

Guide:
You need a car to drive to this place. You will pay a few highway tolls unless you chose the crowded free roads. There are no touristic buses that come here. The delta roads are narrow taking you through rice crops and tiny villages.
Parking is free with no time limit. Once there, you can choose to spend the day on Platja de Marquesa, to the right of the parking place as you look towards the sea. To the left there’s Platja del Fangar. In between them there’s a small restaurant but to use the bathroom you have to be a client.
